Discretix delivers DRM security for Sony Ericsson content
26 February, 2010 - 00:32Security specialist Discretix has launched a multi-scheme DRM Client designed to protect distribution and consumption of multimedia content on Sony Ericsson Android and Windows Mobile-based handsets and for its PlayNow services.
Discretix's products include embedded security co-processors and a broad range of security applications. The solutions are tightly integrated into the device, enhancing security without, says the firm, compromising the user experience.
The company adds that the embedded technology enables a wide variety of business models including subscription-based music and video services for the consumer market. The technology can support a number of business models including purchasing, rental, subscription, preview, metering, tracking and super-distribution. It supports integration of all the major DRM schemes such as OMA DRM V1.0/2.1, Microsoft WM-DRM 10, and i-Mode DRM including CPRM\SD-Bind and SD-Video. It can also be expanded to support emerging schemes such as Microsoft PlayReady.
"Sony Ericsson mobile phones are highly renowned for both their technological and design innovation. We're excited that our Multi-Scheme DRM Client is now included in products from this progressive company," said Raanan Tzemach, EVP, Content Protection BU manager for Discretix. "The inclusion of our DRM technology will ensure that consumers have access to the broadest array of music, video, and other entertainment services."
